Report from Sydney
From Rebekah Bronn
It was great to meet again for the Shabbat dinner. This time we had Jews and Gentiles, and a mix of believers and non-believers. It is so encouraging to see smiling faces during this difficult time, as we remember the hostages still in Gaza and the ongoing war, with sad news every day.
This meeting around the table, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, allowed us to have deep, spiritual, and encouraging conversations – especially with non-believers. Before we started our dinner, we made Kiddush – lighting candles and reading blessings over bread and wine. It is so great to have this unity, and then I had the chance to remind everyone that we are called to be the salt of the earth and the light for people around us. One example of this is the community of believers and non-believers coming together to shine the light of Yeshua.
All this happened just one day before a huge protest against Israel in Sydney, but this small event gave us a glimpse of hope that we can share the love of our Messiah with one another. One of the amazing things I saw at this dinner was a gentle believer sharing the gospel with an Israeli woman and then praying for her. It was heartwarming to see this kind of opportunity, and that the Israeli lady accepted the prayer.
